Dior is a tabby cat that only appears in The Dead. She was a gift from Frédérique Morel to Monsieur Morel.

Appearance

Dior is a young female tabby cat.

History

When Dior was a kitten, Frédérique Morel gave her to her father, Monsieur Morel, as a gift, and she lived with him in his flat at Rowhurst.

When the outbreak first began, Frédérique's mother sent her to Britain to live with her father and Dior. Though Monsieur Morel held off the symptoms of the disease for longer than most, he eventually became ill and left the flat to look for medicine.[1] This left Frédérique to care for Dior on her own.

Synopsis

The Dead (2010)

After Monsieur Morel left the flat, it soon becomes a target for sickos.[2] Ed Carter and Jack save Frédérique from the sickos hammering at the door, and she puts Dior in a cat carrier and takes her with them.[3] Dior is kept in the cat carrier for most of their journey through the Fez, and on the coach bus with Greg. While the bus is stopped so the party can have lunch, Frédérique and Jack took Dior outside so she could use the bathroom. Sickos lurch up the road towards the parked bus and Greg becomes furious, but Frédérique refuses to leave Dior.[1] Thankfully, she was able to grab her just as the sickos neared the bus, and they were able to safely get away.[4]

The morning after the coach party arrived at the Imperial War Museum, Frédérique released Dior into the city, saying that the cat had better chances of survival on her own and that it wasn't right to keep her cooped up.[5] It is currently unknown if Dior is dead, or if she has survived and is wandering the streets of London. However, she is neither seen nor referenced again for the rest of the series.

Relationships

Frédérique Morel

Dior is Frédérique's tabby cat. She gave Dior to her father when she was a kitten, and later stepped up to take care of her after her father became sick. It was clear that Frédérique loved Dior very much, to the point where she puts the coach party in danger by refusing to leave Dior while she used the bathroom, even as sickos advance towards their parked bus.[1] Additionally, she was horrified at Greg even joking that they would eat Dior.[6] that After the children arrived at the museum, Frédérique tearfully let Dior go, saying the cat had better chances of surviving on her own and that it wasn't right to keep her cooped up.[5] It is possible that Frédérique was becoming more aware of her own illness and knew that soon she wouldn't be able to take care of her beloved cat.
