"Charlie Higson is the author of the phenomenally successful Young Bond series which has now sold over a million copies in the UK and has been translated into 24 different languages.
Charlie is a man of many talents. He is a successful actor, comedian and writer for television and radio, but has been writing books for children since 2005. The Young Bond series started with SilverFin and was followed by Blood Fever, Double or Die, Hurricane Gold and By Royal Command.
Charlie has always been a fan of '70s and '80s horror. While at university he studied Gothic literature, a film course on horror and wrote a dissertation on David Cronenberg, as well as putting on all night horror movie showings.
After studying at the University of East Anglia, Charlie formed a band, The Higsons. He then became a decorator before turning to the world of television and going into partnership with his friend Paul Whitehouse. His successes included Saturday Night Live, the Harry Enfield Television Programme, The Smell of Reeves and Mortimer, Shooting Stars, Randall and Hopkirk Deceased, the film Suite 16, Swiss Toni and of course, the Fast Show.
In 2006 he joined up again with Paul Whitehouse to co-create the hit radio series DOWN THE LINE for BBC Radio 4. The series was improvised by a large cast including Charlie and Paul who also produced and directed. The show was spun off for television as Bellamy's People, on BBC 2 in 2009. The TV show was also improvised, and again produced and directed by Charlie and Paul.
Charlie is now firmly established as one of the most popular children's authors in the country, constantly in demand from schools and literary festivals and he is also rather good at CALL OF DUTY: MODERN WARFARE, which he plays when he is supposed to be writing."
